Would filter some bad players, but not the a-hole type of players - as much as he's got experience, he's still an a-hole that likes to make you look like crap for his own e-peen.
However, still might not show "skill" - I play a lot on my necromancer (nearly 15 million exp) while I don't play my nuker much (I think I did hit the 1 million mark a few weeks back). Doesn't mean I can't play a decent nuker.
EDIT:

Explain why I encounter Healing Hands+Vig. spirit+Healing Breeze W/Mo's in FoW, who think they're the best thing since sliced bread and whine at you, saying you're a noob for not letting him run that in a high enchantment strip/shatter area.
I don't know, but I'd rather run with my guildies who know what they're doing - therefore are good - than facing yet another HH wammo, which is often a bad thing...

PvP is Skill > Time.
PvE is Time > Skill.
Not really sure why so many people have a hard time figuring that out.
There is a reason they added Birthday Presents to the game......now if they had customized them then they might be used as a means of showing off the true age/level of a char. Since they can be bought and sold they serve no purpose now, except for the HoM.
While we do already have titles to show off individual accomplishments, Protector/Guardian/Vanquisher/Skill Caping/Cartographer, what I think the OP is asking for is a single means of summing up all of our chars accomplishments at once.

Well a lot of people dislike that.
Especially as it was advertised as skill>time (PvE included)

Something like this is needed tbh. However it should be accountwide and not lvls you get by getting xp as its too easy to get a lot of xp and no experience. Accountwide titles w/o benefits would be the thing.

Wrong
it's
Guild wars Time > skill
Guild wars pvp 1/2 time 1/2 skill or something like that
You know. Rank can take some time to get, unlocking all pvp skills.
Glad Points, Hero whatever points
Obsidian armor, Jesus sword, etc.

QFT. I don't to this day understand why people can't wrap their minds around this. With PvE anytime you can repeat something over and over you will eventual succeed. Even if you are the worst player. I will stipulate with tactics and if you do have skill you will be faster or more proficient in PvE. But there is no Skill required to PvE. But PvP you have to know the game. You have to have that something extra to suceed in PvP. Since everyone is on the same level equipment-wise, level, skill, etc ....

If you're build sucks, you're not going to get very far. Like PvP, you have to know what to do and know what works.

Maybe you're right in, Hard mode. But in normal mode you would be fine with most anything. And if you include the rest of my post with what you quoted:
Quote:
I will stipulate with tactics and if you do have skill you will be faster or more proficient in PvE. But there is no Skill required to PvE.
|
That word I bolded is the main part of my post. In PvE Skill is not required. But over time you will suceed. Most people will succeed with bad builds by joining pugs and advancing on that pug's coattails. And that one person is usually why pug groups can be horrible. And yes learning will make you better but it is not required.
I stand by my opinion though. In PvE, skill is not required. Therefore Time>Skill. But in PvP skill is required to be good. Because skill is the only real variable there. So the more Skill you have > than the time you have played. Everything else is balanced.
For example. One could purchase Guild wars and purchase all the PvP packs. They will be equal to everyone else. The only variable will be how they know the game. After practice they will get better by honing their knowledge or "Skill". Then take a person that plays PvE. He has 1000's of hours played like myself. I have equal equipment. I am 99.9% uax. I would get owned in PvP, because I don't know the game like that person who only purchased the PvP game. Sure I have skill against PvE monsters but I don't have real skill against another human. I could learn it. It would be required for me to do so if I want to succeed in PvP.
So this is really why showing what your true level with xp would be moot in GW. Because after level 20 it doesn't mean anything. Although now after I have gotten a very high virtual level on my main, it would be for vanity, cool to display my level 600+. It wouldn't add to anything but just that, vanity.

I left out your other statement because it was a bit empty: How is skill not "required" in PvE?
Skill in PvE is vastly different than PvP, I will say that. In PvE, if your team build sucks then you won't do so well. If you don't know what to do in a mission, you won't do so well.
In PvE it's less a matter of skill and more a matter of knowledge. You have to know the overall working of an area so you know what build you should bring, you have to know how to do the mission, what the requirements are for a bonus, what builds work in PvE, and so on and so forth.
One could say "oh that's easy, all you need to know is all this stuff!", well that's a whole lot of stuff to learn. And if it was so easy to learn then pugs wouldn't be largely associated with failure.

Would be interesting. Could be real lvl of account, and real lvl of char.

even better: a total xp/hour type deal. shows not only amount of time played, but also amount of xp gained during those hours. otherwise ppl will go afk for 10 hours at a time to jack up their stats.

Just time and XP won't do. Thanks to farmers...
The missions, quests, etc made should count to the equation too.
